My Europe project launched successfully
15 and 16 February 2011, Frankfurt/Main, Germany Talented young writers from the Frankfurt Wöhlerschule successfully kicked off ICCA’s latest international initiative the My Europe project. In a two-day workshop, the teenagers aged between 15 and 19 had the chance to discuss European issues with the former German Minister of Defence Mr. Rudolf Scharping, the Hessian Secretary of State for European Affairs Ms. Nicola Beer and journalists from the newspapers Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, WirtschaftsWoche and Frankfurter Rundschau. Once each student had found a European topic of personal interest, ICCA’s managing director Jane Uhlig introduced the students to the art of research and various types of newspaper articles. The Frankfurt workshop represents the first of a series of workshops across Europe. European Scriptoria with the aim of bringing Europe further into the hearts of the people will take place in Istanbul, Bucharest, Paris and London in the near future. For more information, please have a look at the project’s website: www.mein-europa.eu/en |

Children must be able to realise their potential, if we are to flourish in the future! 09 November 2010, Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof Hotel, Frankfurt/Main, Germany, Professor Manfred Spitzer (Transfer Centre for Neuroscience and Learning, University of Ulm, Germany) gave fascinating insights into how children develop and what can be done to maximise their ability to learn at an early age at the “Future CSR” event hosted by the Frankfurt Future Think Tank and the Institute for Corporate Culture Affairs. This was followed by proposals from Professor Jochen Ehrich (Hannover Medical School) for a sustainable and long-term approach to health provision which could bring about a healthier society for the future. Mrs Tumpel- Gugerell (European Central Bank) made the final presentation of the evening, calling for greater economic focus and investment, with a view to realising the long term potential of young people. Brian Blackstone, Financial Correspondent from the Wall Street Journal, then led an active interdisciplinary panel discussion, which focused on themes including education and healthcare provision in view of an ageing population, and corporate initiatives that can benefit both society and corporations themselves. Members of the audience, which included representatives from business, education, health and non-profits, contributed to the discussion with their own insights, with many continuing their debates after the formal discussion, long into the night. pictures ... |
